Matt Couto, C.Tech
With over 12 years of experience in the fire protection industry, Matt’s career began in the field as a fire alarm technician, sprinkler fitter, fire extinguisher technician, and other roles - focusing on the installation, service, and routine maintenance of fire protection systems. During this time, he developed the hand-on skills and experience that many other designers lack. Over the years, he advanced to project management and eventually design roles, guiding large-scale installations for residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial clients.
More recently, Matt started working as a Fire Prevention Inspector with a fire department in the GTA, where a large part of his role includes the plans review and inspection of fire protection systems under building permit, review of fire safety plans and alternative solutions, and more. Matt’s unique experience allows him to deliver projects which not only meet the appropriate codes and standards, but also the needs of the local authorities having jurisdiction.
